I love a New Year! I’ll take any chance I can get for a nice refresh in routine! However, there’s so much pressure to lock in the perfect routine, the perfect plan, the perfect version of ourselves. But here’s the truth most people don’t talk about: your habits are meant to change!
We are seasonal beings.
Your energy shifts. Your motivation ebbs and flows. Your capacity changes depending on the season of life you’re in.
Instead of forcing yourself into a version of movement that doesn’t fit right now, ask a better question:
How can I move in a way that serves the season I’m in today? For example, I am currently 22 weeks pregnant, and I see many transformations happening among the people I follow, and I want to get on board so badly! I am fighting the urge to do the same. I know that season will come, but right now I am in baby-making mode, and I need to focus on nourishing and keeping my body healthy rather than stressing it out.
Some seasons call for heavy lifts and structure.
Others call for walks, mobility, and consistency over intensity (this is me right now!)
Progress doesn’t disappear just because the approach changes.
Growth Lives Outside Comfort (Even When It’s Subtle)
I’m a huge believer in getting out of your comfort zone, not in an extreme, burnout kind of way, but in the intentional kind.
Because confidence isn’t built by staying comfortable.
It’s built by showing yourself, again and again, that you can do hard things.
Society loves to sell us the idea that a “good life” is an easy one. Comfortable. Predictable. Low effort, and let’s be honest, we are built to want comfort. But comfort has a quiet cost. Over time, avoiding discomfort can lead to frustration, stagnation, and the feeling that you’re capable of more… but not accessing it. I 100% start to feel frustrated and unhappy when I feel stagnant in life!
Sometimes the discomfort of not doing the thing in front of you is far greater than the discomfort of starting.
Fear Shrinks When You Move
Resistance and fear tend to grow when we avoid the work.
They thrive in overthinking, procrastination, and “I’ll start Monday” energy.
Most things aren’t nearly as hard as we build them up to be in our heads.
You don’t need to overhaul your life on January 1st.
You don’t need perfect motivation.
You don’t need to feel ready.

You just need one small step.
- Show up imperfectly.
- Put your shoes on.
- Do 10 minutes.
Momentum is built in motion, not in planning, not in waiting, not in self-criticism.
A New Year, A Gentler (But Stronger) Approach
This year, let your goals be rooted in self-trust instead of self-pressure.
Let movement be something that supports your life, not something that drains it.
Let consistency look flexible, realistic, and human.
You don’t need to do everything.
You just need to do something and keep going.
Here’s to a year of strength, confidence, and choosing yourself… one small, powerful step at a time 💙
💡 Trainer Tip: New Year Reset – Turn Motivation Into Action
1️⃣ Train for the season you’re in.
Instead of asking “What should I be doing?” ask “What can I sustain right now?”
Your workouts should support your current energy, schedule, and life demands, not fight them.
✍️ Journal Prompt:
- What season of life am I in right now? (busy, rebuilding, high-energy, recovery)
- What type of movement would support me most in this season?
2️⃣ Create one non-negotiable habit (keep it almost too easy).
Forget the all-or-nothing approach. Choose the smallest action you can do even on your hardest days. This is how consistency is built.
Action List (circle ONE):
- 10 minutes of movement
- 1 strength workout per week
- Daily walk
- Stretching before bed
- Simply showing up at the gym
Once this feels automatic, you build from there.
3️⃣ Use discomfort as a confidence signal, not a stop sign.
That uneasy feeling before you start? That’s not a red flag, it’s growth. Confidence is built after action, not before it.
✍️ Journal Prompt:
- What am I avoiding because it feels uncomfortable?
- What is the cost of not doing it six months from now?
- What’s the smallest step I could take today to move forward?
✨ Remember: You don’t need perfect motivation. You need momentum.
One aligned habit. One small step. Repeated consistently.
Happy 2026!
